Soil
The supply of moisture – neither too much nor too little, and made available at the right times – is crucial for quality grapes. Australian soil achieves correct supply naturally through the soil’s moisture retention. Australia believes that identification of the best terroir is of paramount importance.
Climate
Described as a Mediterranean climate, our regions typically experience cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers, which is ideal for grape growing. Sunny days of summer encourages the vines to grow and allow the grapes to ripen fully and develop a balance between levels of acid and sugars in the grape.
Grapes
Australia grows more than 100 different grape varieties, but six stand out as our most popular namely Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Reisling and Semillon.
Solar
Our hand-picked selection of Australian wineries that have made the switch to solar power. Barrels of solar-powered goodness rolling out the door in our wine regions.
Vineyard
Australia has a large number of truly great vineyard sites. These are the jewels, the rare places where the right vine has been planted in a soil and climate that suits, and the viticulture and winemaking are done in sympathetic ways, tried and tested over a long period.
